We look forward to welcoming you to Switzerland!

To ensure that your stay goes smoothly, you must check whether you need a visa or not, depending on your nationality. EU citizens do not need a visa to stay in Switzerland for less than 90 days. For others, it depends on the agreements that have been made between Switzerland and your country. Before coming to SNL 2026, please consult the official regulations and procedures that apply to you.

Please note that in any case, you are responsible for having the appropriate documents (ID, passport, visa, etc.) for your journey and entry to Switzerland.

SNL Letter of Invite

Attendees who require documentation confirming their participation in the SNL 2026 Annual Meeting may request a visa invitation letter from SNL.

Please note that an invitation letter does not guarantee that a visa will be issued. Visa decisions are made solely by the appropriate Swiss authorities. We strongly encourage attendees requiring a visa to register and request their invitation letter as early as possible to allow adequate time for visa processing.

Educational Courses

Two educational courses are being offered at SNL 2026. The two courses take place on September 29, 2026 at Campus Biotech from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, immediately before the SNL welcome reception.

Please note that Educational Courses are limited to registered Students and Postdocs.

Course B - From Manual Lesion Segmentation to Automated Deep-Learning Pipelines: Practical Tools for Brain and Language Research

Complimentary Onsite Lunch

Your paid registration includes complimentary onsite lunch for all three days of the meeting.

Because finding affordable food near the venue can be challenging, lunch is included in your SNL 2026 registration fee. Enjoying lunch together at the meeting not only saves time and money, but also provides an opportunity to connect with colleagues, continue scientific discussions, and build new collaborations throughout the meeting.

The Eighteenth Annual Meeting of the Society for the Neurobiology of Language will take place at the Le Centre International de Conférences de Genève (CICG) from September 29 - October 02, 2026.

For the convenience of our meeting attendees, SNL has arranged special room rates at three hotels located near Le Centre International de Conférences de Genève (CICG): Ibis Genève Centre Nations, Hotel Jade, and Hotel Mon-Repos.

Hotel Jade is a 20-minute walk or a 9-minute public transit ride to CIGC. Ibis Genève Centre Nations is a 12-minute walk or a 12-minute transit ride to the venue. Hotel Mon-Repos is a 35-minute walk or 12-minute public transit ride to CICG.

We urge you to reserve your hotel room early; the city of Geneva fills up in October and it will be difficult to find availability.

The deadline to reserve a hotel room is August 30, 2026 for Hotel Jade and Ibis Geneve and August 15, 2026 for Hotel Mon-Repos or until the SNL room blocks are sold out.

Rates are quoted per room per night (Twin, Single, or Double Occupancy) on the above specified room types. Rates include breakfast buffet, and VAT. A city tax of 4.25 CHF (per day per person) is not included.

Ibis Genève Center Nations is located in the center of Geneva, just 2625 feet from Cornavin Train Station and all the leisure attractions and business facilities such as the International organizations and CICG. It offers modern rooms with attached bathroom with a flat-screen cable TV, as well as free Wi-Fi access in the entire hotel. Guests of the Center Nations Ibis benefit from a 24-hour reception and a bar serving drinks and snacks around the clock. Lake Geneva and the international organizations are 1.2 mi away, and Geneva Airport is 2.5 mi away. Geneva is an international city with excellent air, rail, and public transportation connections. Below is some helpful information for planning your travel to the SNL 2026 Annual Meeting.

Traveling to Geneva by Air

Geneva Airport (GVA) is the primary airport serving Geneva and is located just a few kilometers from the city center.

Geneva Airport has direct connections to many European cities as well as select international destinations. Travelers arriving from North America or other locations without nonstop service can easily connect through major European hubs.

Traveling to Geneva by Train

Geneva is very well connected to destinations throughout Switzerland and neighboring countries by rail.

Geneva-Cornavin is the city's main railway station and provides connections throughout Switzerland as well as international rail service.

Getting from Geneva Airport to the City

Getting from Geneva Airport to central Geneva is quick and easy.

By Train

The train is one of the easiest ways to reach central Geneva. The railway station is located directly at Geneva Airport, and all trains departing from the airport stop at Geneva-Cornavin, Geneva's main railway station. See Geneva Airport Train Information.

Travel time: approximately 7 minutes
Trains operate frequently throughout the day
Geneva-Cornavin provides easy connections to local public transportation and hotels throughout the city

By Bus

Several public bus routes also connect Geneva Airport with the city and surrounding areas. Visit Geneva Airport Public Transportation.

By Taxi

Taxis are available outside the airport Arrivals area. Travel time to central Geneva varies depending on traffic.

Free Geneva Transport Card

One of the benefits of staying in Geneva is free public transportation!

Visitors staying in a hotel, youth hostel, or campsite in Geneva are eligible for the Geneva Transport Card, which provides unlimited use of Geneva's public transportation network for the duration of their stay.

Your accommodation can provide your digital Geneva Transport Card before your arrival, allowing you to use public transportation from Geneva Airport to your hotel at no charge.

Working with Interpreters

Sign language interpreters will be present throughout the conference to support accessible communication. If you are not used to working with interpreters, please keep these tips in mind.

Always direct your attention and speech to the person you are conversing with, rather than the interpreter.
Speak at your natural pace—there’s no need to slow down unnaturally, as interpreters are trained to keep up.
Please avoid speaking over others, as interpreters can only interpret one person at a time.
Be mindful of visual sight lines so that interpreters and Deaf participants have a clear view of each other.

If you are giving a talk, we kindly ask that you share a draft of your slides at least 1–2 weeks in advance to allow interpreters to prepare for technical content and terminology.
