This activity, part of the Small World of Words (https://smallworldofwords.org/en/project) satellite event, brings together three complementary perspectives on conducting language research, addressing research in underrepresented populations, big team science, and project advertising and outreach. The first presentation (14:15-14:45) will cover word associations in four signed languages, presented by Dr. Hope Morgan and Dr. Brendan Costello. Next (14:45-15:15), Dr. Erin Buchanan will talk about Big Team Science and the opportunities and challenges of large-scale, collaborative research initiatives in linguistics. The final presentation (15:15-15:45) will be presented by Célia Lazzarotto and focus on project advertising and outreach on social media. Together, these talks cover a range of topics relevant to the Small World of Words project and to any researcher involved in language research, large-scale collaborations, and/or online project advertising.
