This pre-symposium webinar offers background on current thinking about the inferior parietal lobe/supramarginal gyrus's role in speech and motor control processes, ahead of our upcoming SNL symposium ("Beyond the Visual Word Form Area: Rethinking the Dorsal Stream's Role in Reading"). Two 10-minute talks will lay out the conceptual groundwork for the symposium's central proposal, that the IPL forms a dorsal interface integrating speech into reading. A 30-minute moderated discussion will follow, brainstorming how the background information from these two experts is relevant to processes of reading. These ideas will be carried forward to our symposium session at the annual meeting. Open to all SNL members!
